    I was thinking...

    September 25, 2010 by Damien.carlson

So I started reading this book, "Jesus With Dirty Feet", just yesterday and I came to a realization. It wasn't something that I had never read before it was just me seeing it in a new light. The author is talking about looking at Jesus for what he was and how people viewed him 2000 years ago. It talks about Jesus being baptized by his cousin John and then heading out into the wilderness to deal with some things before coming back and beginning his journeys. That is when I went, whoa! So many times I have heard various churches and the people who belong to those churches, we will call them Christians, tell people that Jesus will meet you where you are, all you have to do is "raise your hand"! Raise your hand or say a little generic prayer a…

    Supernatural Atrophe

    September 13, 2010 by OJazzy1

Soul atrophy, spiritual atrophy, supernatural atrophy. It's all the same. The topic came up because of Vibram's Five Finger shoes. Spiritual thoughts and conversations come from the strangest places sometimes. Vibrams were designed with the active lifestyle in mind. They take some getting used to because if you are not a frequent bare-footer you will probably experience some foot pain as the muscles in your feet build up. Vibram suggests that if you are over a certain age and have not bare-footed much you should not switch to Five Fingers because it will cause undo pain and could cause injury. Muscles in your feet and ankles are like any other muscle in your body, if you don't use them you lose them. Americans are notorious for wearing sho…

    Personal Experience

    August 21, 2010 by OJazzy1

Frustration. What a common occurance in my life. I find that a lot of my frustration is caused by myself, why? Because I expect things out of myself and people that I or others don't live up to and I am left disappointed which for me leads directly to frustration.

Hands down one of the most frustrating experiences in my life is when I am talking to someone or someones and I am asked for my opinion, now those who know me know that I have plenty of opinions, it's no secret, occasionally I am ashamed of it but for the most part I try and embrace that part of myself while still reminding myself that other people's opinions are just as valuable as mine and if I take the time to listen them I will probably gleen something worthwhile, believe it o…

    Be a Personal Person!

August 20, 2010 by Laura Kovar

" Do you felt lead by God to be missionary? If so call this number now and let us send you a packet on how to be an internet missionary......Be a missionary from the comfort of your own home!....you can reach people without having to leave your house" Can I gag now?!? What ever happened to "go out and preach to the nations"? And I know I'm harping back on the whole comfort zone thing by saying this too, but since when did reaching out, ministering, loving on, getting to know people mean not leaving your couch?? How are we truly going to understand people if we don't get out of our comfy houses and live life with them? I'm sure that the Lord can use internet missionaries (He can use just about anything!), but is that His best?? Jesus didn't s…

One the hard things about community is that we have to deal with things. Because we are such a small community often they have to be dealt with quickly before the little weed takes over the garden. A couple of nights ago we did a sit down re-evaluation of our precedence on what conduct we follow as ministers in Freedom Seed. It was a good meeting. It was a difficult one as well. Though in the end we did have a full group concensus it was an emotionally charged meeting with lots of personal input.

It isn't good to hide ... well anything. Hidden things tend to really trip us up in our journey. It seems that we get them neatly tucked away and the next thing that we know we are falling over them. One our mottos (borrowed from AA's 12 Steps) is …

    Wake up!

    August 16, 2010 by Damien.carlson

    Dear Christian,

I think it is time for you to get a clue!

"All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any." 1 Cor. 6:12

"For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery." Gal. 5:1

"For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another." Gal. 5:13

We as Christians ARE free, but "freedom" cannot be tolerated through a translation that says it is ok to live as the world does. For what then seperates a Christian from anyone else not living for Christ? Even worse, by observation, as an ambassador for Christ, you are set…

    Graceful Death

    August 16, 2010 by OJazzy1

t is no question that death is scary. It is scary and in some ways unnatural. Why? Because we as people weren't meant to die. Cancer, aids, murder... none of that is natural. But death... death wasn't natural, death now is natural.

I understand not wanting to die and I definitely understand not wanting a friend or family member to die. I say I understand because I listened as a doctor told me that my dad should be dead and they were hoping that they could get him in to surgery fast enough to keep his femur from compounding and my dad from bleeding to death. He was pale and in more pain than I have ever seen him in. I also called 911 as my dad held the limp blue form of my sister who had just had a grand mal seizure. I watched as my great grandm…

Well here I go...my first blog post!

At the moment I have a habit of saying my life is awesome, but I've forgotten to explain why..... It's because it is the most free and purposeful it has ever been!! There is nothing more frustrating than to be a young adult and have no idea what in the world you are doing with your life, feeling pretty blah about life in general. A couple of months back I was there, life was a bummer....I was terrified of living the rest of my life doing paperwork or the mundane life stuff! Regular life does have to go on...it's not all exciting all the time. But it can be most of the time! :) Anyway, so I went up to minnesota to visit the Pembertons and to attend communion. Taking that first step was one of the biggest I…
